The company CATS Crane Automation Technology Systems GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2007 by Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.) Wolfgang Wichner.

As part of this venture, he developed an entirely new sway control and crane automation system: OptiSway®.

It first came on the market in spring 2007 and has since been sold nearly 50 times. The systems are functioning trouble-free and are highly appreciated by the crane operators.

Currently, CATS GmbH & Co. KG has two permanent employees and four freelance workers.

As in the times before, when he used to work as Head of Development at Siemens, Mr. Wichner frequently leads product development and commissioning works by himself – above all to remain on the cutting-edge of technology and customer requests.

Furthermore, Mr Wichner is expert for FC drives and Approved Crane Expert (license no.: BG-Z 1947)

Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Wichner is a long-serving active member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). In May 2016 he was appointed member of the Guideline Committee for cranes and will be in charge of the revision of the VDI Guideline "Automatic Cranes".
